Sample Containers and Bottles
It is recommended samples are submitted for testing in AST containers and bottles. These containers and bottles are prepared and assessed for appropriateness for each test according to our NATA accredited Quality System and are provided free of charge.
Once you know how many samples you want to take, and what tests you require, sample bottles can be sent out to you, or collected from the laboratory.
This handy Sampling and Bottle Types information sheet is included in each container and bottle kit.
Samples
We strongly recommend that you contact the laboratory before undertaking any sampling programs. Our staff can provide advice on minimum sample volumes, sample preservation, and holding times.
All samples should ideally be submitted:
- In an appropriate, clearly labelled, sealed container;
- In containers that are externally clean of contaminants;
- In containers filled to the recommended volume;
- With transit time kept to a minimum - some tests require analysis to be commenced within 24 hours of sampling.
Samples should be kept cool and out of direct sunlight.
Some bottles contain preservatives for specific tests. Please don’t rinse or overfill these bottles.
Regular testing schedules can be arranged according to your requirements. Containers Bottles can be automatically sent out prior to the scheduled sampling.
